Portsmouth 1992 World Series Champions

1992 has been good to the Portsmouth Clippers. Not only did they end up in first place during the regular season with a 91-53 record, they were the Continental Baseball League champions. The Clippers won the World Series for the 2nd time.
A 4-3 triumph over the Mount Sterling Gladiators at Mountainview Stadium brought home the trophy to Portsmouth. They won the series 4-2.

Veteran 3B Jones Stays in Newport

Navigators fans were divided today as Newport confirmed that the front office has signed Walt Jones to a 3-year extension at a rate of $9,500,000 per year.
While many were enthusiastically behind the signing, others worried about Jones's age.
This season Jones has hit 15 home runs and posted a .272 batting average.
