Tops in Wins, Ks, ERA -- Triple Crown for Gore
Monday, September 21st, 1992
There's a new Triple Crown winner -- Giants ace Trent Gore powered his way to the top of the Colonial League in wins, strikeouts and ERA. He was the league's best in all three major pitching categories. In his superb year, the 28-year-old hurler chalked up 20 wins, totaled 292 strikeouts and posted a 1.52 ERA. Gore finished the year 20-6. It looks like a Outstanding Pitcher Award might be in his future, too.

Speaking to the press about the award, "It's quite an honor to win the pitching Triple Crown. It's good to be rewarded for hard word. I just do whatever it takes to stay at the top of my game. I have a strong work ethic and pride myself on being the best. My teammates deserve a lot of credit, too. I didn't do this all by myself."

How good a year did Gore have? One opposing batter put it this way: "We're doing the best we can. But when you've got God on the mound throwing against you, it makes it a little tough."
