Tom Jenkins out 5 Weeks With Injury Monday, August 26th, 1991 The Liberty (C) Giants were dealt a severe blow when Tom Jenkins was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the Newport Navigators. After the game, the team trainer reported Jenkins might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 25-year-old left fielder out for the rest of the season with a fractured finger. They indicated it would take Jenkins at least 5 weeks to heal. This year Jenkins has batted at a .381 pace with 178 hits, 38 home runs, 119 RBIs and scored 99 times. |
