Portsmouth learned today that they will be without closer George Washington for 3 months. Washington was injured throwing a pitch and sustained acute elbow soreness. He was hurt in the game against the Capital City Senators.

Washington has 31 saves this year. In 54 relief appearances he has tossed 80.2 innings, fanned 65, and given up 16 walks with a 5-5 record. The Portsmouth reliever has recorded a 3.24 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .231 when he is on the mound.
