Clippers Lose Javier Guzmán
Tuesday, August 29th, 1995
The Portsmouth Clippers were dealt a severe blow when Javier Guzmán was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the Capital City Senators. After the game, the team trainer reported Guzmán might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 29-year-old center fielder out for the rest of the season with an oblique strain. They indicated it would take Guzmán at least 4 weeks to heal.

In 106 games this season Guzmán is batting .302 with 124 hits and 20 home runs. He has scored 67 runs and driven in 82.
