Big Day for John: Swats 5 Hits Wednesday, August 2nd, 1995 Who needs batting practice? Drake John of Capital City apparently doesn't as he battered Portsmouth with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 7-3 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?" Drake John doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This year John is batting .276 with 17 home runs and 50 RBIs. In 103 games he has scored 51 times. |
