Haley Sharp, Whitewashes Clippers
Thursday, July 16th, 1992
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Portsmouth manager after his club suffered a 8-0 shutout at the hands of Matt Haley of the Park City (C) Patriots. He held the Portsmouth Clippers scoreless in a 6-hit whitewash.
Haley was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Matt did a whale of a pitching job."
This year Haley has fanned 97 in 121 innings and collected a 6-5 record with a 4.39 ERA.
