Ball Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Tuesday, July 14th, 1992
On top of the Newport hit parade today was Kent Ball. He went to the plate 5 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Irondale that marched off with the 7-6 win. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance, however the Steelers marked it up in the victory column.

The sweet swinging right fielder told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The skipper of the Navigators griped to the press, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats and the pitching today. That's why we lost."

Kent Ball hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

So far this season Ball has gotten 50 hits in 183 at-bats for a .273 batting average with 5 home runs. His stats include 26 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has played in 67 games.
