Gladiators Chill Wood's Hot Streak
Friday, July 10th, 1992
Centerville first baseman Jason Wood came into today's game against the Mount Sterling Gladiators on a hot streak. When it was over, the Gladiators did their job very well. They beat the Centerville Cyclones 4-2 and cooled him off at the same time. Mount Sterling stopped Wood without a hit and his 20-game hitting streak came to an end.

The 25-year-old Wood only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."

His manager commented, "What Jason did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

For the season Wood is hitting .299, batted in 54 runs with 14 home runs and 41 runs scored.
