5-Hit Game for Martínez Tuesday, August 6th, 1991 It was a sensational day at the plate for José Martínez as he led the charge to a 6-3 win over the Kings. The Fremont right fielder was pure misery for the Park City (F) pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 9 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. The manager for the Kings told BNN reporters after the game, "Martínez put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." José Martínez struck out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th, grounded out in the 14th, doubled in the 17th and singled in the 18th. To date this season Martínez is hitting .238 with 10 home runs. |
