Colonial League Announces July's Top Pitcher Thursday, August 1st, 1991 In July, Matt Ashley tore through the Colonial League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 23 years old. The young Irondale starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 2.38 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 45.1 innings he collected 33 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .251 average. Ashley has made 24 starts, tossed 173.2 innings, struck out 127 batters and walked 23. His record is 12-8 with a 2.54 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .225 batting average. |
