Steelers Fields and Giants Gordon Suspended for Fight Saturday, August 11th, 1990 The fans at Pioneer Park saw it all yesterday in the Steelers-Giants game -- pushes, shoves, scuffles, a few tackles, a few swings, a few feeble punches -- and a baseball game, too. When the ruckus was over, only two players were sent to the showers by the umpire crew. Irondale's Luke Fields and Liberty's Earl Gordon were ejected from the game. Today the two players were suspended 9 games by the league commissioner. For the season Fields is hitting .175, batted in 33 runs with 7 home runs and 36 runs scored. |
