Nobody Does It Better: Gore Sets K Record
Monday, August 14th, 1989
It was quite a dramatic scene. The Navigators Ballpark fans on the edge of their seats, and Trent Gore on the verge of setting a new league season record. The Liberty Giants ace winds, fires, and gets it -- strikeout number 190! That tops William McKinney, who was the previous record holder. Talking with the press after the historic game, Gore told them, "Strikeouts are great, the new record is great, but I'll take winning the game over them anytime. Striking out ten batters and losing the game is not what it's all about."
Checking out his stats for the season, Gore has registered 10 wins and 5 losses in 26 starts, 2.26 ERA and struck out 190 batters in 151 innings.
