Win Puts Ullrich in Record Book Wednesday, August 9th, 1989 The biggest winner in the league this year is Mark Ullrich of the Portsmouth Clippers. Not only is he the league leader in victories, Ullrich rewrote the record book with 15 wins, the most in history. Edward Davis held the mark previously. Ullrich told the press, "It takes 9 men to win a ballgame. I just try to do my part. If all of us do our part, good things happen like this year. My teammates played a big part in my record-making season." In 26 starts this season Ullrich has registered a 15-7 record and a 2.56 ERA. |
