Kingston, Newport Make Trade Saturday, July 1st, 1989 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Lions and Navigators have agreed to a swap. Newport will get 28-year-old left fielder Juan Jose Molina with Kingston receiving 40-year-old reliever Tim Bowen and 21-year-old catcher Phil Clark in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. Thus far in 1989 Molina is hitting .241 with 13 home runs, 34 RBIs, 31 runs scored and has compiled a .302 OBP. |
