Barrage of Hits Gets Benvijes CL Award Monday, July 13th, 1987 A battle-tested Sixto Benvijes declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old Liberty third baseman collected the Colonial League Player of the Week Award. He wrapped up the week with a .556 average, 15 hits in 27 at-bats, 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Batting .279 to date, Benvijes has 21 home runs and 74 RBIs. |
