McKinney Breaks New Single-Season Record with Win #15
Monday, August 6th, 1984
Edward Davis no longer holds the top spot for most wins in a season. His league record has been shattered by William McKinney of the Newport, who chalked up victory number 15 today at M&M's Field. When the game was decided, the fans gave him a tremendous standing ovation. Speaking after the game McKinney said, "It takes a lot to win 15 in a season at this level... gotta stay healthy... Need a good bullpen... and it never hurts to get a lot of runs on the scoreboard. This season it all came together for me."
This season in 26 starts William McKinney has a record of 15-4 with 189 strikeouts in 171 innings and a 2.11 ERA.
