MacIntosh Cracks Record-Setting Hit
Saturday, July 21st, 1984
Harry Cooper was the old recordholder. Now he's history and number two on the league all-time single-season hit leaderboard. He has been supplanted by Tim MacIntosh of the Portsmouth Clippers, who collected the historic hit at Pioneer Park to set a new mark. That pushed his total for the season to 154 hits. He spoke with the press after the game and said, "It's a great honor to see your name in the record book, along with the great stars of the past. I know my family will get a kick out of it."

Tim MacIntosh singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

This season MacIntosh is swinging the bat at a .337 rate with 154 hits in 457 at-bats. To date he has hit 2 home runs, scored 57 runs and driven in 30.
