Big Day with Bat: Harris 5-6
Saturday, July 24th, 1982
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Roland Harris after his 5-hit performance against the Clippers. "No offense meant to Portsmouth, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Arcadia Journal Ballpark."

The Liberty catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 14-2 victory.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Roland worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Harris said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

Roland Harris grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Brennan Gunter in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

In 65 games this season Harris is batting .314 with 83 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 40 runs and driven in 52.
