Liberty Loses Gilliam, Out 8 Months

The latest news from the Liberty Giants clubhouse is this: closer Ray Gilliam is expected to be out of action for another 8 months. He has a torn flexor tendon in his elbow, sustained on 06/28/1981. Gilliam expressed a bit of relief. "At least now I know," he said.

In the 1981 season Gilliam has worked 32 innings in 33 relief appearances and earned 21 saves. He has dished out 39 strikeouts and walked 17 with a 2-5 mark and a 3.66 ERA.
