Bartlett Goes Yard 3 Times
Tuesday, May 26th, 1981
Irondale won't soon forget the display of raw power put on today by Dave Bartlett of the Newport Navigators. He victimized the Steelers by pounding three pitches out of Navigators Ballpark. The homers sparked his club to a 8-2 win and got him a spot in the league record book.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," Bartlett told reporters. "Today I was in a groove ... tomorrow I could just pop up the same pitches and go oh-for-three."
In addition to the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
Dave Bartlett walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Lowell Holmes in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Lowell Holmes in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jack Williams in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
In this current campaign Bartlett is hitting at a .329 clip with 18 home runs and 44 RBIs.
