Tuttle Is CL Batting Champ
Monday, September 21st, 1998
Batting titles are tough to come by. It takes a lot of talent, hard work, consistency, few slumps, good health and a little luck. Sean Tuttle of the Irondale Steelers put it all together this year and led the Colonial League with a .338 batting average (191-565). The Steelers right fielder played in 143 games, ending the season with 26 doubles, 5 triples, 18 home runs, 86 runs and 86 RBI. "When you work hard, good things happen," Tuttle explained to reporters after winning the coveted award. "Slumps happen to everyone, but you won't break out of one without hard work. I think that's one of the prime reasons for my success this season."
