Win Puts Ashley in Record Book Tuesday, September 15th, 1998 The biggest winner in the league this year is Matt Ashley of the Liberty (F) Knights. Not only is he the league leader in victories, Ashley rewrote the record book with 21 wins, the most in history. Michael Pittman held the mark previously. Ashley told the press, "It takes 9 men to win a ballgame. I just try to do my part. If all of us do our part, good things happen like this year. My teammates played a big part in my record-making season." Checking out his stats for the year, Ashley has racked up 21 wins and 5 losses in 32 starts, 2.35 ERA and struck out 158 batters in 241.2 innings. |
