Clippers Rich Clay Wins CL Award Monday, August 24th, 1998 It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Colonial League, but last week Rich Clay of the Portsmouth Clippers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Clay rocked opposing pitching for a .385 average (10-26), 2 home runs and 4 RBIs to come away with the award. This season Clay is hitting at a .173 pace with 8 home runs, 37 RBIs and has scored 52 times. |
