Fremont, Kingston Trade Made
Thursday, July 9th, 1998
It won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Fremont Tigers and Kingston Lions finalized a trade today. Fremont will send 38-year-old right fielder Pat Howard and 24-year-old reliever Gerald Renfro to the Lions, while the Tigers will receive 26-year-old starting pitcher Manuel González. "We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," said the Tigers general manager). The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players to join their new ball clubs by the end of the day.

Looking at his season stats, Howard has compiled a .165 batting average and a .347 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 16 runs.

His record for the year is 3-9 in 17 starts and González has a 6.42 ERA.
