Greene Strokes 5 Hits
Thursday, June 11th, 1998
Kevin Greene of the Tigers was unstoppable in today's 14-4 victory over the Portsmouth Clippers at Tiger Stadium. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Fremont second baseman after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will."
Kevin Greene singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Geoff Hyde in the 8th.
In the current season, Greene has put up a .313 batting average with 71 hits, 2 home runs, 20 runs batted in and scored 31 runs.
