Cummings Takes FL #1 Pitcher Trophy Monday, September 1st, 1997 Whether Len Cummings stays in Fremont beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In August the 24-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Federal League Pitcher of the Month award. He put up some fancy numbers with a 6-1 record and and an ERA of 2.08. In 47.2 innings he struck out 33, surrendered 33 hits, 16 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 7 starts last month. So far this year Cummings has made 29 starts, tossed 189 innings, struck out 116 batters and walked 61. His record is 11-10 with a 3.71 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .241 batting average. |
