Powers Batters Kingston Big Time Monday, September 2nd, 1996 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Cody Powers got one today. He scattered hits all over Mountainview Stadium to pace Mount Sterling to a 9-7 victory over Kingston. The Kingston skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Powers hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Cody Powers singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Thus far this year Powers is hitting .259 with 10 home runs, 56 RBIs and 66 runs scored. |
