Sunday, September 1st, 1996
"The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we might have to start inviting him out with us after the games."
Bill Bader put together a very solid month to take home the Federal League's top pitching honor in August.
The 23-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 14 relief appearances he raked in 10 saves and 18 strikeouts in 15.1 innings as he put together his 2-1 record and 1.17 ERA.
Looking at his pitching stats this season, Bader has made 56 relief appearances, pitched 61.2 innings and fashioned a 5-3 record with a 1.31 ERA. He has recorded 27 saves, struck out 71 and allowed opposing clubs to hit .178 when he is on the hill.
