Bob Ward Suffers Injury
Friday, August 23rd, 1996
The Capital City Senators were dealt a severe blow when Bob Ward was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the Newport Navigators. After the game, the team trainer reported Ward might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 27-year-old left fielder out for the rest of the season with a torn hip flexor tendon. They indicated it would take Ward at least 5-6 weeks to heal.

This season Ward is batting at a .293 clip with 7 home runs and 42 RBIs.
