Gordon Dominates FL, Wins Triple Crown
Monday, September 20th, 1993
There's a new Triple Crown winner -- Knights ace Lawrence Gordon powered his way to the top of the Federal League in wins, strikeouts and ERA. He was the league's best in all three major pitching categories. In his superb year, the 22-year-old hurler chalked up 17 wins, totaled 200 strikeouts and posted a 2.19 ERA. Gordon finished the year 17-6. It looks like a Outstanding Pitcher Award might be in his future, too.

Speaking to the press about the award, "It's quite an honor to win the pitching Triple Crown. It's good to be rewarded for hard word. I just do whatever it takes to stay at the top of my game. I have a strong work ethic and pride myself on being the best. My teammates deserve a lot of credit, too. I didn't do this all by myself."

How good a year did Gordon have? One opposing batter put it this way: "We're doing the best we can. But when you've got God on the mound throwing against you, it makes it a little tough."
