Jones's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Saturday, September 4th, 1993 And the hits just keep on coming -- especially off the red-hot bat of David Jones. The Gladiators first baseman got 1 hit in 5 at-bats in today's 3-1 triumph over the Centerville Cyclones at Mountainview Stadium. Jones has now hit safely in his last 20 games. Asked by the press, how it feels to go through something like this, he replied, "the longer it goes on, the more the pressure intensifies. The press coverage can get relentless at times. I wish I could just go out and play the game without all this distraction, but I know that's not going to happen. I know I will just have to grin and bear it."
