Jones Sets Season Mark with Hit #186
Friday, September 3rd, 1993
Baseball has a new all-time single-season hit leader. In a game at Mountainview Stadium David Jones broke the record set previously by Jason Coffman. The crowd went wild when he banged out hit number 186. Asked by reporters, if it was tough to break the record, Jones replied, "Yeah, getting hits is tough, but there's no pressure build-up. I figured I would get this hit. This wasn't pressure. Pressure is the playoffs. Breaking this record was just fun... just another day at the ballpark."

David Jones singled in the 1st.

Looking at his present stats, Jones has compiled a .358 batting average in 130 games with a .412 on-base percentage, while hitting 29 home runs and driving in 89 runs.
