Setback For Clippers and Jorge Sánchez
Monday, August 1st, 1988
Jorge Sánchez is hurting again, just a few days into his treatment for a hamstring strain. Apparently the injury worsened, so the Clippers sent the 29-year-old left fielder back to the doctors for reexamination. Sánchez told them that the pain had gotten much worse in recent days. It was confirmed that the injury was indeed much more severe that first thought. He was sent to a specialist, who felt that treatment would be longer than first diagnosed. Sánchez will now miss a minimum of one week.
This season Sánchez is batting .259 with 80 hits, 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, 24 walks, .310 OBP and has scored 42 runs. He has played in 78 games.
