Newport's Campbell to Miss 3-4 Weeks Monday, August 4th, 1986 Newport fans will be disappointed to learn that Sammy Campbell suffered shoulder soreness while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Newport Navigators manager that Campbell was expected to miss 3-4 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper. This season Campbell is batting .307 with 119 hits, 7 home runs, 52 RBIs, 59 walks, .408 OBP and has scored 61 runs. He has played in 102 games. |
