Allen Erwin Hurt, Out of Action Friday, July 18th, 1986 The Newport Navigators were dealt a severe blow when Allen Erwin was hurt colliding with a player at a base recently in a game against the Irondale Steelers. After the game, the team trainer reported Erwin might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 30-year-old shortstop out for the rest of the season with chronic back soreness. They indicated it would take Erwin at least 3 weeks to heal. In his season totals, Erwin has 7 home runs, .287 BA, .388 OBP, 18 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has played in 62 games. |
