MacIntosh Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak Tuesday, July 15th, 1986 He did it again! Tim MacIntosh got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 20. He collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Portsmouth Clippers were defeated 3-0 at Arcadia Journal Ballpark by the Newport Navigators. During the recent streak, the 26-year-old shortstop has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, MacIntosh preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today." "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Tim MacIntosh doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and flied out in the 8th. MacIntosh currently has a .374 batting average with 120 hits, 4 homers, 47 RBIs, 56 runs scored and a .390 OBP. |
