Walt Jones Out of Action Friday, June 24th, 1983 Walt Jones of the Irondale Steelers was injured in today's game against Portsmouth and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a sprained ankle and he is expected to be out for up to 4 weeks. It happened while Jones was colliding with a player at a base. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field." Looking at his stats this year, Jones has compiled a .287 batting average, while hitting 13 home runs and driving in 35 runs. He has played in 75 games and scored 51 runs. |
